Cunningham and Collinge

After the successful handover of three previous multi unit projects for Kāinga Ora, we were contracted to complete the build construction and associated infrastructure and landscaping for this significantly bigger social housing development. This project consisted of 15 new houses, which now serve as transitional housing for our Te Matau-a-Māui (Hawke’s Bay) community:

• 2 x multi storey 5 bedroom units
• 1 x multi storey 4 bedroom duplex
• 2 x multi storey 2 bedroom duplexes
• 1 x 3 bedroom standalone homes
• 4 x 2 bed standalone homes
• 1 x 1 bedroom duplex
• 1 x 1 bedroom standalone

To allow local whanau early access to the homes built in this development, we split the project into two separable portions after initial construction began. Tenants began to occupy the first half of the development whilst we completed the final half – completely separating the two sections to ensure health and safety protocols were met. Each home achieved a 6Homestar rating, an independent rating tool for assessing the health, efficiency, and sustainability of homes run by the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC).
