About the Role:

Reporting to the Construction Manager, you’ll be responsible for the planning and delivery of all aspects of stop bank construction works. As an experienced Project Manager, you’ll know and understand the civil construction industry. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, outgoing, and confident person, preferably someone who has existing relationships with local authorities in Hawkes Bay.

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Project Manager in the Civil Construction Industry.
  • Strong understanding of NZ Standards 3910, 3915 and NZS3916.
  • Demonstrate a high level of understanding and use of project and financial management tools, expertise managing the project budget, including timely and accurate reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to engage and influence at all levels
  • A bachelors degree or higher qualification or at least 5 years or relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification
  • Experience working or managing projects in or around River Systems
  • High Level Technical Understanding of Stop Bank Construction, materials, construction techniques and specific testing
  • High level of Experience delivering River Maintenance Projects i.e. Channel cuts, Weir and Rock Groin Construction, and Rock Armouring in various flow environments.
  • Excellent Project Management, Planning and Reporting skills
  • Safety Leadership – Specifically working near bodies of water, lone worker protocols and rising river levels
  • Proven experience working with Hapu and Iwi.  Demonstrate how, through the delivery of works, your approach protects Hapu and Iwi connection to the Awaand Whenua
  • Experience using Ecological Reports and Preparing Ecological and Environmental Management plans
  •  
What do you need to succeed?
  • Proven prior experience in a managerial role is essential.
  • Current STMS Level 1 or STMS (P) Cat A and B is preferred.
  • Suitable experience in Traffic Management or other relative industry Operations Management roles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of Products.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport within the team.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
