About the Role

Are you a commercially astute leader with a passion for driving financial performance and delivering results? We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Estimator to join our Hawke’s Bay branch.

The Senior Estimator is responsible for developing precise and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. This role requires thorough analysis of project plans, specifications, and related documentation to determine accurate projections for time, materials, labour, and overall project costs.

This role plays a pivotal role in our construction projects by providing expert financial and contractual advice, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. This role demands a deep understanding of construction processes, a sharp business acumen, and the ability to develop and refine project financial processes.

 

What does this look like?
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects.
  • Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial constraints.
  • Prepare tender documents, evaluate bids, and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Continuously assess and improve construction processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Contribute to strategic decision-making by providing valuable insights and recommendations.
  • Administer construction contracts and manage variations, claims, and disputes.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities for cost savings.

 

What do you need to succeed?
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying or similar is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
  • Proven track record of accurate estimating and successful project delivery.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in construction cost estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to confidently identify problems, evaluate solutions, and implement the best outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
