The Opportunity

We’re on the lookout for a highly skilled and experienced carpenter to lead our formwork team and help deliver top-tier results across a range of exciting projects.

This role is responsible for overseeing the construction and installation of formwork systems for concrete structures. This role combines hands-on carpentry expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring that formwork is built accurately, safely, and efficiently to support successful concrete pours.

The Lead Formwork Carpenter plays a key role in maintaining quality standards, coordinating team activities, and contributing to the overall success of the division.

Key Priorities

  • Lead the formwork team in constructing and installing formwork for foundations, walls, columns, slabs, and other concrete elements.
  • Interpret and work from structural and architectural drawings, ensuring formwork is built to specification.
  • Plan daily tasks and allocate resources effectively to meet project timelines.
  • Operate and supervise the use of carpentry tools, machinery, and formwork systems.
  • Ensure all formwork is constructed to high standards of accuracy, safety, and durability.
  • Collaborate with site managers, engineers, and concrete crews to coordinate pours and sequencing.
  • Inspect formwork prior to concrete placement and make necessary adjustments or repairs.

Skills & Education

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant prior experience in Carpentry or related field.
  • Trade qualification in Carpentry or Building (NZQA or equivalent).
  • Thorough knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and its practical application.
  • Proven prior hands-on experience working with pod/waffle slab foundations.
  • Current and clean New Zealand Driver’s License.
