About the Role:
Based in Cambridge, this role works alongside both our staff and customers to lead the estimation preparation and to ensure effective delivery of tender submissions and operational estimation activities. This includes working closely with the management team to procure and manage contracts, as well as pricing smaller quoting and tendering works.
This position requires estimating skills in their truest form, using limited plans to build robust budgets and a “fill in the gaps” mindset. The goal of this role is to ensure that all projects are delivered on time according to the requirements and without exceeding budget.
Previous experience in the construction or similar project-based industry will be highly regarded.
Negotiate and influence business solutions related to costing, budgeting, and contractual requirements
Prepare project bid status reports, provide/ implement tender solutions, and ensure contract specifications and documentation compliance
Provide and maintain unit pricing and database for material and labour costing
Build up estimates from concept drawings
Analyse drawings and specifications
What do you need to succeed?
Trade or Engineering qualification and a proven track record as a Commercial Estimator in infrastructure construction projects.
High proficiency with MS Suite is necessary; exposure to Candy or Expert Estimator is an advantage.
Outstanding problem-solving ability
Sound commercial, financial and contractual acumen
Excellent people leadership skills including a total commitment to creating a Zero Harm workplace
Ability to negotiate effectively with a strong customer focus
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
The ability to work under pressure
