A Community Coming Together to Make Magic Happen
Devyn’s Dream
In a world where kindness and collaboration often shine the brightest, some stories remind us of the power of unity and compassion. One such story unfolds with the heartwarming tale of 15-year-old Devyn, whose resilience and determination inspired an entire community to rally behind his dream.
Devyn’s journey began with a diagnosis that no teenager should ever have to face. Faced with a life-threatening condition, he turned to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Zealand with a dream that ignited hope in the hearts of many. His wish? To set up his very own barber shop, a haven where he could pursue his passion for fades and fresh cuts, free from the confines of his bathroom or garage.
Sam Coxhead from TW Property and his partner Keri, volunteer with Make-A-Wish, whose serendipitous connection with the world of building projects sparked the beginning of something truly extraordinary. With their expertise in organising such endeavours, they set out to make Devyn’s wish a reality.
But they couldn’t do it alone.
A cast of local heroes, each bringing their unique skills and resources to the table. From ITM, who generously provided materials, to TW Construction Company overseeing the project with precision and care, and the many other businesses who lent their hands and hearts to the cause, the stage was set for magic to unfold.
McDonald Architectural Design, Apex Windows, Lakeland Laminates, JM Roofing, Carpet Court, Keyland, Roofing Industries, Resene, Bricote Painting, IBuilt, Taupo and Turangi ITM, and TW Group businesses—all united by a shared desire to make a difference.
The result? ‘DK Fadez’ emerged—a professional barbershop nestled in the heart of Taupo, a testament to the power of community and the beauty of dreams realised.
But Devyn’s story doesn’t end there. It’s a story of resilience, of dreams taking flight, and of the ripple effect of kindness. With ‘DK Fadez’ now a reality, Devyn invites all who seek a fresh fade to experience his craftsmanship and passion.
So, if you find yourself in Taupo craving a stylish new look and a dose of inspiration, look no further than ‘DK Fadez.’ Devyn’s dream lives on, a beacon of hope and a testament to the extraordinary things that happen when we come together.
Devyn, may your barber chair always be a throne of dreams realised and aspirations yet to come. Your courage and spirit remind us all that anything is possible when we dare to dream and believe in the power of community.
