Finance Manager (Parental Leave Cover)

The Opportunity

This fixed-term parental leave cover role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager or Senior Accountant to step into a senior, trusted position.

Covering a period of parental leave, this fixed-term position will see you take ownership of the finance function, ensuring continuity, accuracy, and strong financial governance. You’ll oversee a small team and work closely with senior leaders, providing timely reporting, insight, and advice to support sound decision-making.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hitting the ground running, building strong relationships quickly, and adding value from day one.

The fixed-term period for this role is expected from 1 August 2026 to 1 June 2027. Preferably, this role is full-time; however, we are open to discussing flexible arrangements for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial management and accounting operations for a portfolio of over 40 entities.
  • Actively monitor cash flow and provide informed recommendations to ensure all entities meet financial obligations.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly cash flow forecasts, incorporating new projects and upcoming settlements.
  • Develop annual operating budgets and conduct ongoing reviews against budget.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, GST return preparation, and respond to ad hoc financial requests.
  • Facilitate and manage property development funding arrangements as required.
  • Coordinate the preparation and lodgement of annual financial statements and tax returns.
  • Prepare and present quarterly management and board reports as required.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce is preferred.
  • 7+ years’ experience in Accounting and/or Finance roles.
  • Proven experience in financial management, ideally within property development or construction industries.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into commercial insights.
  • Proficiency in Xero Accounting Software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of New Zealand tax, GST, and statutory compliance
